— The Pain of the Flood
---
(Intro – Slow, dark beat. Heavy bass. Rain sounds in background)
This is not poetry — this is a scream,
This is not a song — this is a lament.
Our homes washed away, dreams washed away,
But our spirit is still awake — listen.
---
(Verse 1 – Slow, deliberate flow)
From the lap of the Himalayas came furious water,
The river broke its banks — and broke people's pride.
In just one night, everything turned to mud,
Thousands of families forced to wear the shroud of death.
We woke up in the morning — where was the settlement?
The river swept everything — people, homes, all of it.
The cry of a child, the wail of a mother,
In the father's eyes — emptiness. To live or to die?
---
(Verse 2 – Anger rising, faster flow)
Ministers say — "We are with you,"
But how many lives lost — is that even in your view?
In the name of relief — a few cans of kerosene,
I'd rather the flood had taken me than this obscene.
No roads, no bridges, all electricity dead,
No food, no medicine — are we alive or already bled?
Fake promises dripping from every official's mouth,
While people keep drowning — like countless rivers flowing south.
---
(Verse 3 – Emotional, slower, breaking voice)
One brother lost his sister,
Another lost his father, someone lost the anchor of their life.
A wedding procession was swept away mid-road,
The groom held on and wept — his bride was swallowed by the water's load.
Where did all those people go? No one gives an answer,
Those who went to search for kin — they never return either.
The door of the house still opens — but no one's inside,
Empty rooms, empty hearts, empty picture of a life that died.
---
(Chorus – Shouted, painful, with echo effect)
Why did this flood come? Why did it take everyone?
Why doesn't the God above hear our cry?
We are still weeping — but our eyes have run dry,
No voice remains — only breath, and hearts that no longer try.
---
(Verse 4 – Resilient, defiant, determined)
But we are Nepali — we don't know how to bow,
The flood swept homes away — but our courage, never, somehow.
We're running, we're saving each other's lives,
We will rise again — no matter what sacrifice arrives.
Let's join hands, share that tiny bit of food,
Give shelter, if they need to cover up — we'll cover them too.
If the government won't act — then we become the government,
For the people's pain — we are the medicine and the movement.
---
(Outro – Soft, spoken word, fading)
This country is burning... and we are all part of that fire.
But we won't burn — we don't know how to be extinguished.
We will rise...
Again...
We will rise.
---
(End – Heavy rain sound fades out)
