Some folks crave the city,
Others chase the fame and lights.
Took a train from New Rochelle,
And I left the crowds behind.
I’ve seen the Hudson shimmer,

Now I’m down by the Thames River,

Don’t need no Hamptons beaches,
Or a high-rise in the clouds.
I’ve got Ocean Beach Park sunsets
And a foghorn moaning loud.
Ledge Light’s standing steady,
Harbor Light still shines—
With a sand chair view of ferry boats,
It’s a New London state of mind.


The subs are running silent
Past the Coast Guard docks below,
Downtown’s got some soul left
If you know just where to go.
There’s oysters on the half shell
And a jazz band at the Garde—
History wrapped in working class,
With a blue-collar heart.


So you can keep your cabs and car horns,
Your rush and concrete climb.
I’ll take a sip here at Tox Brewing,
Heard the church bells keepin’ time.
This harbor town’s not forgotten,
But it suits this peace of mind—
Yeah, I found myself a moment here,
