Blue shirt, gold hair, a flicker of light,
Standing so tall in the sun's fading might.
Sunflowers climbing, reaching for the day, in this summer meadow, where the children play. A white shed sleeps behind, under an endless sky,
Watching the days of our youth drift by.

From the break of day till the setting sun.
Two little sisters, close to the earth,
Finding the simple and beautiful worth.
In the dust and the pollen, the green and the bright, we held every moment in golden sunlight.

You stood beside me, quiet and true,

Just the sight of our boots, near the old water well. The old pickup truck parked, weathered and worn, a place to be sheltered until the new morn.
