Leap of Faith

Online dating is how your story began
Two hearts hoping for love, was definitely the plan

From a screen to a first date under neon
lights
Country music was playing on a CCMA night

Friday would come, another weekend away
From Edmonton to Calgary back and forth
they'd stay

It was clear she's the one, I knew it was meant to be
When he smiled and said "Mom, she's the female version of me"

Months of long distance, tired of being apart
Courtney headed to Edmonton to make a new start

A huge leap of faith but they had no doubt
Whatever life had in store for them would all work out

They found an apartment, their own little place
But after a year of renting it was time for more space

The house hunting began, soon they found the perfect one
Only a 4 month wait until their new build was done

Settled and happy, Christmas the next big thing
Nick called to say he'd picked out an engagement ring

My heart filled with excitement, I ran over to see
He'd decided to propose at the Big Valley Jamboree

The months flew by, August long finally here
Time for Nick to put his proposal into gear.

The song started playing, Nick got down on one knee
He looked up at Courtney… ’will you marry me?’

Surrounded by family and friends, Courtney in tears
The crowd that had gathered erupted in cheers!

Meanwhile at home what seemed like hours I’d guess
I finally got the call...Courtney said YES!

Within The next month the wedding planning began
Picking Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, the Maid of Honor and Best Man

Soon Invitation Postcards arrived.. “Save the Date”
July 25th...so excited I can’t wait!


Next on the list… finding her a wedding gown for less
It was at Bridal Boutique that Courtney said …Yes to the dress!

Flowers, music, the catering and the venue
Checked off the list, just a few small details left to do


With 2 months to go, it was time to let loose and have some fun
The bridal party flew off to Phoenix to relax, golf and enjoy a week in the sun!

The bridal shower in June, the countdown was on
Only a month more to go...where had the time gone?

Rehearsal then dinner, everyone in a pre-wedding mood
A time to just chill and enjoy plenty of good drink and good food

Finally no more sleeps, today’s your big day
I just have a few words that I’d like to say

From a screen swipe and smile to somewhere in between
You both found the one who's become your
everything.


Nick, I’m so proud of the young man you’ve become
I’m honored and so blessed to be your Mom

And Courtney, my girl, welcome to our crazy clan
Thank you for making Nick such a lucky man

Today starts your journey as husband and wife
And I hope you have…the time of your life!
