Julia's Swan Song

Humming through hallways and cheerful good mornings,
Helping solve problems before the first warning,
Candy for students and pies she still brings,
These are a few of the wonderful things.

Peonies blooming and gifts that are thoughtful,
Friendly to everyone, patient and helpful,
Talking with coworkers, laughing through stress,
Making the whole school feel better, no less.

When the phones keep ringing,
When the copier jams,
When the whole day’s gone wrong,
We just hear her humming down the hallway…
And somehow we all move along.

Twenty-two years of laughter and caring,
Twenty-two years of always preparing,
A friend to us all in so many ways,
Julia has brightened our school every day.

So now comes retirement, a well-earned new start,
Though leaving us all with a hole in our heart,
We’ll miss all the kindness and joy that she brings…
Our wonderful Julia — the best of all things!
